Installation Instructions (short version)
PAWS Studio 01.18.00 or higher
and
TYX License Manager 02.05.01 or higher
Networked (Floating) Licenses

Contents:
METHOD 1 - 'First-time' installation (use these instructions if you have not previously installed PAWS Studio 01.13.00 or higher, or .lic files for PAWS 01.13.00 or higher).
METHOD 2 - Update installation (use these instructions if you've already installed PAWS Studio 01.13.00 or higher and have already received the .lic file for PAWS Studio 01.13.00 or higher).
METHOD 1 - 'First-time' installation
- You must be logged on as a user with administrative privileges for the pc on which you are installing.
On the license server PC:
1. Pick some pc to be the license server.
2. Install TYX License Manager on that pc:
- From the PAWS Studio cd, run setup.exe
- Click next, a window with two buttons will appear. Click the lower button (License Manager). Follow the instructions as they appear on the screen. See also Release Notes for TYX License Manager v. 2.x.x.
3. Run lmhostid –
Select Start, Programs, TYX Network License Manager, LmHostid
4. Identify the Computer/Hostname
Select Start, Programs, TYX Network License Manager, License Manager Administration
Click on the System Settings tab.
Identify the value for 'Computer/Hostname' (it can be copied and pasted)
5. Provide TYX Support your Computer/Hostname and LmHostid. For example:

- TYX Support can be reached at (800) 321-PAWS by phone or support@tyx.com by e-mail.
6. TYX Support will provide you with a license file - for example: 11-999.lic
Copy this file to
<license manager install directory>\Licenses
on the pc that will be your license server.

(The default location is c:\Program Files\TyxFlexLm\Licenses)

7. Start the license service
For Windows NT 4.0:
Start, Settings, Control Panel, Services, Select 'TyxFlexLmService', Click Start, Close
For Windows 2000:
Start, Settings, Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Select 'TyxFlexLmService', Select Action, Start. Then Close the window.
Note: An alternate way to start the license server on either os is to reboot the pc.
On each client pc -
1. Install PAWS Studio
- From the PAWS Studio cd, run setup.exe
- Click next, a window with two buttons will appear. Click the top button (PAWS Studio). Follow the instructions as they appear on the screen. This will do a full installation of Studio.
2. Point to the server
- Open an explorer, run <usr>\tyx\Flexlm\LicMgrCfg.exe
- In the "FLEXlm Server" cell, enter the name of the license server pc
- Click ok.
Critical Item – if you are changing to a new server pc, you must follow these steps:
- Open an explorer, run <usr>\tyx\Flexlm\LicMgrCfg.exe
- In the "License Checkout Sequence" section, select the entry which is no longer valid.
- Click the "Remove" button.
- In the "FLEXlm Server" cell, enter the name of the "new" license server pc
- Click ok.
3. Open Studio
METHOD 2 - Update installation (use these instructions if you've already installed PAWS Studio 01.13.00 or higher and have already received the .lic file for PAWS Studio 01.13.00 or higher)
- You must be logged on as a user with administrative privileges for the pc on which you are installing.
1. On each PC where you have previously installed PAWS Studio:
- From the PAWS Studio cd, run setup.exe
- Click next, a window with two buttons will appear. Click the top button (PAWS Studio). Follow the instructions as they appear on the screen. This will do a full installation of Studio.
- Install in the same directory as the previous installation (the default location is c:\usr)
