Release Notes

9504 PAWS Studio Flowcharter
Version 2.0.2
Release date: 25 OCTOBER 1999

Overview

The flowcharter ver. 2.0.2 fixes some bugs and inconsistencies discovered in the previous version (2.0.0). Version 2.0.1 wasn’t officially released. The fixes refer to flow of GO TO statements, R/R keying off any word containing "RR" in it (such as "error") and boxes flowing off pages in some very particular contexts. Improvements have been made to cross-referenced links. In this version, activating a link causes not only a jump to the target page, but also vertical scrolling to make the related link visible.

1.1 Critical Items

1.1.1 Note on different content of R/R boxes.

1.1.2 Note on flow of GO TO statement.

1.1.3 Note on fatal errors when processing some large source files.

1.2 Known Limitations

Flowcharter 2.0.2 is not able to process some ATLAS 89 sources. One statement identified to cause problems is DO, SIMULTANEOUS.

1.3 Enhancements

1.3.1 Cross-referenced links scroll after a jump to the target page to make the related link visible.

1.3.2 MESSAGE definition doesn’t substitute message name, but is appended to the end of statement.

Detailed Description

2.1 Critical Items

1.1.1 Note on different content of R/R boxes.

This version of flowcharter both fixes a bug related to R/R boxes and brings an improvement. Flowcharter version 2.0.0 (previous version) erroneously identified words containing "rr" (such as "error") in OUTPUT statements as being an R/R indicator. This error was eliminated. As a result, a smaller number of R/R boxes may be noticed in flowcharts. Some OUTPUT statements may contain more than one R/R instructions. It was decided that a more appropriate way of displaying them is to show them all on different lines, instead of just displaying the text up to end of statement.

1.1.2 Note on flow of GO TO statement.

Flowcharter version 2.0.0 (previous version) generated incomplete flow information for GO TO statements. Even though an "in" link existed where the jump was actually made, the "out" link wasn’t generated following the GO TO statement, appearing that the flows goes straight through. This problem is solved in version 2.0.2.

1.1.3 Note on fatal errors when processing some large source files.

Flowcharter version 2.0.0 (previous version) exited with a fatal error when processing some large ATLAS sources. For version 2.0.2, improvements have been made to the flow generation algorithm that eliminate this problem.
