Product 9705: Rapid Parameter Changer
Version 1.0.0
Release Date: 18 DEC 98

Overview

Rapid Parameter Changer (RPC) allows one to see at run time the dynamic changes in connections between the non-macro devices and the unit-under-test (UUT). Each device will exhibit its function state such as initiate (I), fetch (F), open (O), close (C), function name, and the device ports. Under switches, the Block-Module-Path numbers and Plug-Pins are displayed. Active connection pins from the unit under test to the devices and switches will also be shown. In addition, the Rapid Parameter Changer can change the values of the modifiers such as voltages and frequency of a device dynamically by double clicking on the device area. The Run Time system will be updated when these changes are applied, and these values will be persistent until the time the project is rebuilt.

1.1 Critical Items

The Java jre1.1.8 is required to run RPC. JRE is available from
http://java.sun.com/products/jdk/1.1/jre/index.html

After downloading, the path must be modified to include javai.dll.
Javai.dll is found in
C:\Program Files\javasoft\jre\1.1\bin

TCP/IP is required even if not physically connected to a network.

1.2 Known Limitations

After double clicking a device area to initiate a dialog, the modifier values sometimes are not updated. However, one can set and apply new values with the opened dialog table.

Printing does not work correctly. However, a screen image can be captured with software such as Paint Shop Pro.

Only non-macro devices are displayed accurately by the Rapid Parameter Changer.

1.3 Enhancements

This multi-threaded Java program accurately reflects the output from the Run Time System to display the devices, switches and the unit under test. A new implementation in this release is the display of the states of the device function such as initiate, fetch, open and close.

1.4 Problem Reports

None

1.5 Application Note

Rapid Parameter Changer is available under supervisor mode from PAWS Developer’s Studio. Under Options, use Change Profile menu item to change to the supervisor mode (password needed). At present, only non-macro devices are implemented in RPC. In the menu bar under Options, choose Build, click on the Allocation tab and uncheck the macro code check box to build non-macro devices. After building, invoke RPC by choosing Debug from the menu bar then under Using choose Rapid Parameter Changer.
