TYX TRD
Version 3.0.0
16 December 2004

1.0 Overview

This Release of the TYX TRD System contains functionality upgrades, including:

  • Editing of design data, including UUT Interface and Power Requirements
  • Improved editing capabilities in TRD sheets, including import from MS Office formats
  • Support for Configuration Management
  • Improved support for the plug-in integration of importers and code generators

2. 0 Detailed Description

The IDE Framework contains a status bar and merging function for TRDs. The IDE includes a fault Editor for inputting component and fault data. Component Type information can be imported or exported for duplication of failure mode data. A data explorer functions is provided with a menu and toolbar containing display modes for sorting pin information.

2.1 Critical items

2.1.1 Security setting for macros in third-party applications

Microsoft Excel and Visio support the configuration of security features that impacts the ability to execute macros. The TRD System uses such macros to implement integration with Word, Excel and Visio. Consequently, these products have to be configured properly, to accept the execution of macros. Detailed instructions are provided in the Installation Guide.

2.1.2 Registry key controlling the usage of macros in Visio

The ability to execute VBA macros in Microsoft Visio is controlled by a registry key. In some circumstances, the Visio ActiveX control (used internally by the TRD System) changes this key, disabling the execution of macros used to generate flowcharts. As a result, flowcharts generated by the TRD System are empty. When this happens, users must manually change the registry key as described in the Installation Guide.

2.1.3 Operating system and thitd-party software compatibility

Operating systems: the version was tested with Windows 2000 SP4 and Windows XP.

Microsoft Office: the version was tested with Visio 2003, Word XP, Word 2003, Excel XP and Excel 2003. The product is not compatible with earlier versions of Visio, Word and Excel.

Microsoft Visual SourceSafe: the version was tested with Visual SourceSafe 6.0a and Visual SourceSafe 6.0c.

2.2 Known Limitations

2.2.1 Functional limitations

The following features have limited functionality in the release:

1. IDE Framework

a. Print Preview works only for a sheet or a single Test.

b. Creation of new SourceSafe Projects from dialog supporting the addition of a TRD Project to CM. Workaround: SourceSafe projects can be created from the SourceSafe application.

c. Creation of Release & Prerelease does not create flowcharts and reports automatically. Workaround: create manually.

2. Fault Editor

a. Display of Failure Rate & MTBF are not rounded to 8 digits, as required

3. Test Strategy Editor

a. Flowcharts are redrawn each time a TRD project is opened. This takes time, for large TRDs. In the released version, this will happen only when an imported TRD is opened for the first time. Once generated, the flowchart will be stored inside the Project file.

4. TRD Editor

a. Data are not properly sorted in some tables (ex. conn sheet).

5. Field Editors

a. Warning message about ActiveX Controls is displayed when Field Editors are opened up from TRD Sheets. Press OK.

6. Reports

a. Display of Failure Rate & MTBF are not rounded to 8 digits, as required.

7. Documents

a. Documents can only be generated for the entire TRD.

b. Generation of documents in PDF format is not supported

8. Flowcharts

a. Flowcharts can only be generated for the entire TRD

2.2.2 Documentation

Help System and a Developer’s Manual are available.

2.3 Enhancements

2.3.1 Failure Mode Definitions are available for components and subsystems. A Fault Editor and Data Explorer contain menus and toolbars for information input.

2.3.2 Fault Characterization Analysis includes Failure Rate & Mean Time Between Failure information. Support is also available for fault detection and isolation analysis, including generation of reports

2.4 Problem Reports
